Cultural Arts and Diversity, Colleges 9 and 10 bring“Accept ‘Except’ LGBT NY” to UCSC by Siarah Loyd Tue Mar 1

With fear in his eyes and sweat dripping down his face, Sirus, a freed slave, scurried around a big tree, trying to hide from a lynch-mob that knew about his secret relationship with a British man. In spite of his attempt to camouflage himself, Sirus was found and hung from that same tree in Central Park.

Motivated by the not settling language of the thirteenth Amendment, writer Karimah and Tony-award winning director George Faison constructed “Accept ‘Except’ LGBT NY,” which addresses injustice against African People from United States and the LGBT community.

Article length: About 600 words.
