Santa Cruz Mountains marijuana grower arrested, outsized grows cut back

SUMMIT >> A marijuana grower was apprehended in the Santa Cruz Mountains on Tue after deputies stated they found thousands more plants than allowed by Santa Cruz County law.

The arrest came during medical marijuana “compliance checks” with search warrants from Mon through Wed on roads such as Ormsby Cutoff and Highland Way, according to Santa Cruz County sheriff’s Sergeant Roy Morales and law enforcement records.

Deputies cut down and collected thousands of marijuana plants at at least 4 homes Morales said. County law requires that medical marijuana grows have 99 plants or fewer, among other rules .
