UCSC students win AARP video game design competition

SANTA CRUZ >> AARP members aren’t the first demographic that leaps to mind when one thinks about video game design, yet 3 UC Santa Cruz graduate students have conceived an award-winning proposal for a video game tailored to players ages fifty and above.

Letters of Mystery is a cooperative email-based “escape-the-room” adventure. Using clues from a server and deliberating among themselves, players work together in groups to complete objectives.

Its creators — Cong Liu, 26, Pedro Cori, 29, and Alex Formoso, 28 — work under the name Trainwreck Games while pursuing master’s degrees in UCSC’s
