Voter data shows Santa Cruz County Dems and GOP saw 9 percent bump in 2016

SANTA CRUZ >> The Santa Cruz County Clerk’s Office certified the results of the June seven election Tuesday. While the final numbers did not significantly change any of the races, a look at the county’s voter registration numbers indicate the 2 major parties benefited from an enrollment spike from Jan to May.

According to data provided by Santa Cruz County Clerk Gail Pellerin, the number of registered Democrats jumped from 74,596 to 83,517 from Jan. five to

May 31. The number of Republicans in Santa Cruz County rose from 22,308 to 23,472 over the same period.

• Measure L, Lakeside: 198, or 65.6 percent.
