Seniors at Capitola Manor must find new homes

They are among 35 residents at Capitola Mnr. an 80-bed assisted living facility at 1098 38th Ave., a house sold by licensee Charley Puhl in June for $5.2 mill. to the nonprofit

The Alliance plans $2 mill. in renovations to change the use to a nursing home, addressing the shortage of skilled nursing beds locally, according to Alliance spokesman Scott Fortner. Occupancy rates for skilled nursing care in Santa Cruz County are near ninety percent, he said.

Stated Hollingsworth, “We have to find her a whole new place.”
