Final farmers’ market breakfast event finds focus on food

Published Saturday July 23

SANTA CRUZ >> Amid the tables full of local greens and organic meats at the Westside Farmer’s Market on Sat were 3 banquet length tables lined with chairs and decorated with silverware.

The setup was for a pop-up breakfast event hosted by the Santa Cruz Community Farmers’ Markets meant to showcase food while teaching attendees about food origins.

The last in a series of 3 the pop-up meal drew 120 people to a Westside parking lot sit-down meal featuring locally-sourced food. Nesh Dhillon, executive director for Santa Cruz Community Farmers’ Markets, developed the events to teach people about local foods and convince them to buy regularly from the markets.
