Santa Cruz Warriors arena: Stay or go?

Before a seven-year lease agreement between the Warriors, the city of Santa Cruz and Kaiser Permanente Arena landowner Seaside Co. expires in 2019, city officials are aiming to forge plans for a completely new permanent arena. The existing city-owned facility, at 140 Front Petersburg was built with a tent-fabric roof and is designed to last a maximum of about fifteen years.

In the nearly 4 years that the development-league affiliate to the Golden State Warriors has called Santa Cruz home, officials say the team has been able to move from convincing the community it would make a wonderful fit to becoming part of the town.

–330 full- and part-time jobs.

–Annual net tax revenue of $410,000.
