Santa Cruz volunteer group to resume Riverwalk clean up

Published Tuesday January 31

SANTA CRUZ >> After a pause during the winter rains, some members of the “Leveelies,” a local volunteer group, are restarting their efforts to elegant up trash and restore vegetation at the San Lorenzo River levee.

Sun Janet Fardette and Julie Morley resumed weeding efforts on the Front Street side of the pathway, which runs from along the river all the way to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. They also started planting Cal. poppy seeds.

The Leveelies took a break during Dec and early Jan when heavy rains hit the area. Fardette commented the rains made it hard to pick up trash. “You pick up paper and it just dissolves.”
