Aptos >> 2 weeks ago Martijn Stiphout put the final touches on a six-foot long surfboard in his workshop in Aptos. This orange-brown hollow board depicts a sunrise above a mahogany ocean. The long sunrays are relics of the 1800s, made from the floorboards of a historic Santa Cruz mansion. The three-inch wide half-sun itself, was once part of what is considered the most celebrated fishing vessel in the world: The Western Flyer.
